Ingolstadti koncert

„Outstanding quality, impressive interpretation…” - just one of the many remarks made in Germany and Austria during and after the Győr Philharmonic’s concert tour of four performances between May 9 and 13, 2014.

Honoring an invite from the local music society of the famous spa city, Baden, Germany, it was the scene of the first concert conducted by society chairman Norbert Pfafflmeyer where the orchestra received  fiery applause at the end. Győr Philharmonic Orchestra went on to give an equally well-received performance the following evening in the picturesque town of Engerwitzdorf, located in the Upper-Austrian region. The other two concerts took place on May 11 and 12 in Fürstenfeldbruck and Ingolstadt respectively, the latter being the brother city of Győr where artistic director Kálmán Berkes led Győr Philharmonic Orchestra to another memorable evening success.

On request the concerts’ programs were different each night which needless to say was  rather challenging and had required very thorough preparatory work from both the orchestra and Mr. Berkes. Subsequent reviews in both printed and electronic media were unanimously flattering which is evidently good for Győr Philharmonic Orchestra’s already great reputation. One remarkable gesture from the Ingolstadt audience for instance was the standing ovation and joyful screams people rewarded the orchestra with. A concert review in the local newspaper „Donaukurier” went as far as likening Győr Philharmonic Orchestra with the world’s top-notch ensambles desribing the evening’s artistic feat as a very special event.

After this much appreciated tour there still are a number of appearances Győr Philharmonic Orchestra needs to put in to fulfill the current season’s engagements, e.g. on June 14, 2014, a joint performance with celebrated Hungarian retro pop band „Neoton Family” on a makeshift stage by Győr’s City Hall. Another show is scheduled to take place on June 22 on Széchenyi Square where Győr Philharmonic Orchestra is to contribute to the 10th Hungarian Dance Festival.  The 2013/14 orchestra season’s conclusive St. Laszlo Day performance will be on June 27, 2014, in the Basilica followed by a well-deserved summer vacation!
