ABBA Symphonic in Richter Hall

Thursday, 26 January, 2023 - 14:43

It is no exaggeration to say that Swedish pop super group ABBA, created in 1972, has become one of the most iconic pop formations of modern times. After winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, the group, consisting of two female, and two male members, began its fairy tale career churning out one hit song after another. The sum total of their song output is well over a hundred and their popularity was verified by over 400 million albums sold during the band's existence. Although the group disbanded in 1982 there is hardly a single day ever since when one of their catchy, lyrical, or dynamic tunes would not be played somewhere in the world.

The Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra of Pécs in 2020 has already presented this great medley of ABBA evergreens, masterfully arranged for symphony orchestra by András Vass, and Ádám Brandenburg. It is the Győr Phil's turn now to bring this vastly entertaining show before our local audience. The show is to feature Hungary's most beloved singing stars of the genre.
