ESSENTIAL BAROQUE - Journey into a musical era
The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra's newly launched season ticket series named after Benedek Istvánffy is coming to its last presentation of the current season.on May 18 (Thursday), 2017, at 7pm at Richter Hall, Győr. The program includes works that adaquately represent the various genres of the era in which Hungary's greatest baroque composer, Benedek Istvánffy has lived and composed.
The majority of the music performed come from arguably the most splendid figure of the baroque time who in fact epitomizes the entire period, Johann Sebastian Bach. As an interesting addition, music written by his sons are also selected for the evening. Audience members will be able to hear and see the "road travelled" from the mid 1600's to the cradle of the early Viennese classical period. Music by the prodigious Bach family will be supplemented by a representative of French baroque composer Jean-Féry Rebel, whose genuinely French piece of balet music will be played by members of GYPO, conducted by a scholar of this type of music, Márton Rácz, featuring on harpsichord internationally acclaimed Miklós Spányi.
Tickets can be purchased at Richter Hall and online.
