One of the peculiar characteristics of 18th century music is the so-called "Harmoniemusik" signifying both a small group of wind players and the entertaining music of the time period itself. Typical genres of this era was the serenade, the divertimento, and the partita. The greatest composer of the latter was of course the one and only W. A. Mozart. Undoubtedly, one of his most brilliant compositions of them all is the one dubbed "Gran Partita", written in Vienna in 1780, for twelve wind instruments and a double bass. Ironically, the artists of the Győr Phil themselves are headed by one of the most respected wind music experts of the country, clarinetist Kálmán Berkes. Host of the concert is, as usual, music historian Balázs Szabó.
The "Gran Partita" concert is recorded and broadcast on Győr Plus radio station at 5pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021, as well as on the website gyorplusz.hu.
We hope you wil tune in and enjoy the music.
