A mid May press conference has been held in Richter Hall’s Festival Room by the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra hosted by GYPO’s director Géza Fűke, and his deputy, Gábor Ősz. The event was all about giving the public a general idea via the media about the forthcoming new orchestral season. Deputy mayor of the city of Győr, Dr. Tivadar Somogyi, was also present at the conference. The motto of it was: „it is a must for everyone’s ears!” „Experiences for the ears” is GYPO’s new buzzword and the orchestra will try to live up to that with carefully put together, unique programs in the 2014/15 orchestral season for all music lovers. Apart from the usual exciting concert programs for the respective season-ticket holders GYPO will keep serving all who want to have a memorable night at the hall. World-renown stars, outstanding Hungarian performers, Kossuth prize winning artists will all be here in Győr. One of GYPO’s prime season tickets, the Artur Nikish series offers great entertainment right at its first concert featuring the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra on September 13, 2014. Bartók, Kossuth, and Pásztory Award winner, Kristóf Baráti, is to play the violin that evening. Mezzo soprano Andrea Meláth and bassist Krisztián Cser will also appear that night under the baton of Tibor Bogányi. The second night of the same series entitled „Taras Bulba” on October 7 will feature the Győr Philharmonic conducted by Brazilian conductor Claudio Cohen. The program includes works by Janacek, Dvorák, and Robert Schumann. Next in line in the Artur Nikish series is Liszt Award winning pianist, Dénes Várjon, playing pieces by Haydn, Schubert, and Chopin on December 3, 2014. The first „two generational” concert of the new year entitled „Kocsis+NFZ+Kocsis” on January 9, 2015, promises to be a real treat when the National Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by two-time Kossuth Prize winner, Zoltán Kocsis, while the piano is played by his son, Krisztián KocsisGYPO is to give the next concert called „Musical periods” on February 27, 2015, with Márton Rácz conducting, and Szabolcs Zempléni playing the French horn. Some of our interested season ticket holders may just decide to come along with us to one of the world’s most famous concert halls, the Musikvereinsaal in Vienna where GYPO is scheduled to play on April 11, 2015. This afternoon performance is to be conducted by GYPO’s artistic director, Kálmán Berkes, also featuring Kossuth Prize winner cellist Miklós Perényi. A genuine international celebrity, the Argentine singer José Cura, will be our guest star on May 3, 2015, who used to be called „the fourth tenor” at the time of the class act called „The Three Tenors”. This much awaited event will be incorporated into the János Richter, the Tibor Varga, and the Sándor János season ticket series as well. The venue of this great event will be a multi-functional building at present still under construction. Another illustrious guest appearance will be put in by the lovely Kossuth and Liszt Prize winner soprano, Andrea RostThe Tibor Varga concert series offers high quality but light-hearted entertainment to music lovers.
