Verdi: Otello – conductor: José Cura
The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra herewith invites all patrons to the Audi Arena at 7pm on April 23, 2016, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, possibly the greatest playwright of all times. What makes this particular evening very special is the guest appearance of world-famous tenor and conductor, José Cura, who is already known to the Győr audience because of his last year’s stunt in the city. Incidentally, the role of the Moorish governor used to be one of Mr. Cura’s legendary ones. Not only is he the conductor of the April performance but the creator of the stage settings and the director thereof as well. The opera is scheduled to feature both international and Hungarian singers.
The role of Otello is to be sung by Christian Juslin, Desdemona by Gabrielle Philiponet, while Iago is by outstanding young Italian singer, Pierro Terranova. Supporting roles will be played and sung by Hungarian Zsófia Kálnay, Gergely Boncsér, and Marcell Bakonyi.
The show will also include the performance of the National Choir of Hungary directed by Csaba Somos.
GYFZ pays extra attention that the technical quality of the show is again as close to perfection as it was last year in the Audi Arena.
