Summer night concert
The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra’s outdoor night performance is presented under the auspices of the 11th Hungarian Dance Festival.
Ever-popular pieces by Verdi, Tschaikowsky, J. Strauss, and Rossini are on offer in the program to create a laid-back, early summer ambience on Széchenyi Square, Győr, under the baton of GPO’s artistic director, Kálmán Berkes. However, music lovers can also enjoy two of the most celebrated movie soundtracks of all times from Star Wars, and The Pirates of the Caribbean.

Gyor Philharmonic Orchestra at the Palace of Art
Audi Hungaria became GYFZ’s new premier sponsor
The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra and the Audi Hungaria Motor Kft. has lately secured a 3 year sponsorship contract which was formally announced on March 13, 2015, minutes before the orchestra kicked off its scheduled Richter Hall concert at 7pm.
„Serenade” concert offer
We would like to hereby call your attention to our Woman’s Day concert at 4pm on March 8, 2015, as part of our Károly Flesch season ticket series. At the very special University Concert Hall (former cynagogue) the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra’s very own musicians are to play a work by Hungarian composer Rezső Ott entitled „Quatre Guignols en Trois Mouvements” (Four clowns in three movements).
Change of soloist
Dear patrons,
We herewith notify all who plan to come to our March 6, 2015 concert at Richter Hall that there is now a change in the program regarding the soloist of Richard Strauss’s Don Quixote. Instead of originally scheduled László Fenyő who regrettably has canceled his participation for unexpected family reasons it is now internationally known cellist Gabriel Schwabe playing the piece’s challenging cello solo in Mr. Fenyő’s stead.
BRUCKNER + KOCSIS
The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra is currently preparing at Richter Hall to play symphony number 8 by Viennese composer Anton Bruckner, a prime representative of the post-Beethoven era. Reahearsals for the February 20, 2015 concert are under way held by the great two-time Kossuth-prize winner pianist, conductor, and composer, Zoltán Kocsis, who incidentally is the music director of the National Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also a one-time Liszt-prize winner and our current season’s resident artist.
